adidas Soccer Cleats (2026): Predator, F50 and Copa Explained

adidas has the same problem as Nike: people buy the model a star wears instead of looking at the tier or the soleplate. A €270 F50 Elite won't make you faster if you play one pickup game a week on artificial turf. Here we explain the three current families, what changes between tiers and which soleplate you need. Prices from Decathlon and adidas.es (Spanish stores) on September 29, 2026.

The three adidas cleat families in 2026

adidas organizes its cleats into three silhouettes. Each one is for a type of player, and all of them come in several price tiers.

The F50 is the speed cleat. In 2026 it is in the F50 Hyperfast generation, the second since adidas brought back the F50 name in 2024.

The Predator is the power and ball-control cleat, famous for the grip on its upper. The current generation is the Predator 26.

The Copa is the touch and comfort cleat, the successor to the classic leather boots. The current one is the Copa Pure IV. The Copa Mundial is still sold as a classic.

Which player each one is for

The F50 Hyperfast is for wingers, forwards who attack space, attacking fullbacks and midfielders who carry the ball at speed. It is the lightest and has the narrowest fit.

The Predator is for midfielders who control the tempo, ball-playing defenders and free-kick takers. Its NanoStrike+ technology builds the grip into the surface of the upper. Many versions have the classic fold-over tongue, labeled FT.

The Copa Pure IV is for central midfielders and players who receive, think and distribute. The Elite and Pro combine calfskin leather in the forefoot with mesh in the midfoot. The leather needs some wear to soften up.

The tiers: Elite, Pro, League and Club

Elite is the pro tier: the best materials, the most responsive soleplate and the lowest weight. On adidas.es it costs between €240 and €280.

Pro keeps the character of the Elite with somewhat thicker materials and a simpler soleplate. MSRP is around €150-160, although Decathlon has Predator Pro pairs for under €100.

League is the mid tier: a more structured synthetic upper and less technology. It costs between €70 and €100 depending on the version and is the logical choice for playing every week.

Club is the entry tier, with a basic synthetic upper. MSRP is €50-65, and it works for getting started, for kids or for playing now and then.

Which soleplate to choose

FG: dry natural grass. AG: artificial turf, with shorter and more numerous studs.

FG/MG: multi-ground, for natural grass and artificial turf. It is the most practical choice if you play 7v7 or 11v11 on artificial turf fields.

TF (turf): a rubber outsole with small nubs for hard courts, dirt or carpet-style turf. IN: a flat outsole for futsal and indoor soccer.

SG: metal studs for soft or wet natural grass. Most amateur fields in Spain don't call for them.

Verdict

For beginners or kids, the Copa Pure IV Club for €38 at Decathlon is unbeatable; if you play on hard courts or turf, go with the Predator Club Turf. If you play every week, get a League: the Predator League FT if you like striking and control, the Copa Pure IV League if you want comfort, the F50 Hyperfast League if you're fast. If you compete, the Predator Pro at Decathlon for under €100 is the big opportunity; the F50 Hyperfast Elite only pays off at a high level. The Copa Mundial Team Turf is for anyone who wants a classic leather shoe for turf.

Frequently asked questions

What does FT mean on adidas Predator cleats?

Fold-over tongue: the flap that covers the laces, a classic Predator feature. It doesn't change performance much; it's mostly a matter of taste.

What is the difference between adidas League and Pro cleats?

The Pro keeps the shape and much of the technology of the Elite. The League uses a thicker upper and a less responsive soleplate, but it's cheaper and more durable.

Are adidas Copa cleats made of leather?

The Copa Pure IV Elite and Pro have calfskin leather in the forefoot. The League and Club tiers are synthetic. The classic Copa Mundial is also leather.

Can you wear FG cleats on artificial turf?

You can, but they dig in more and wear out faster. For artificial turf, AG or FG/MG is better.
